Utterly glorious experience from start to finish, with the kindest hosts we have ever met. The approach down a secret, tree-arched lane, the magical gardens and meditative views – all these wonderful things surround an inspiring and tranquil garden house that we could visit time and time again. We had a wonderful week at The Garden House and would unhesitatingly recommend it. Susan and Andrew are excellent hosts who have the gift of making their visitors feel immediately at home. The Garden House was built for Susan’s very talented artist mother, so has loving attention to detail and still contains many of her mother’s paintings and sculptures. It is at the bottom of Susan and Andrew’s large, beautiful garden, and is spacious, light, quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean, with an uninterrupted view from the large window over the neighbouring fields. We would love to go there again.

What a beautiful place! It truly is the most perfect get-away. We have loved exploring the surrounding countryside with it’s stunning views and cosy pubs, made all the more lovely by having such a peaceful and stylish place to come back to and put our feet up in. The gorgeous décor has certainly given us some inspiration for our flat in London – though sadly we wouldn’t be able to do it justice with the idyllic location!

Our second visit and once again a wonderful time was had by all. This time we discovered Bruton, The Newt and the BBQ. The garden in late Summer is every bit as beautiful and calm as late Spring. We sat outside as the sun set and watched bats and swallows and heard the owls in the woods. We have almost finished off the three delicious posts of jam you gave us. There is a special presence to this place which brings feelings of joy and contentment. I’m sure we will return yet again.

There are so many great things to do in the surrounding area – we especially loved lunch at the Queen’s Arms, visiting the Newt, Bruton and the Hauser & Wirth gallery, and dropping into Sherborne. We also went on some lovely walks around the area. Top thing amongst all others had to be your alpacas! Our daughter’s favourite by a long way!
